Tantalum crucible purity definition and control
99.95% Tantalum Ta Crucibles represent a high‑purity grade of tantalum crucible, with total impurity content limited to 0.05%, providing enhanced assurance of material cleanliness for industrial processes where trace contaminants can alter chemistry, phase formation, or final product performance.
Purity Definition and Control
A 99.95% Ta crucible contains ≤500 ppm total metallic and gaseous impurities. Stringent control is applied to critical elements: Fe ≤ 50 ppm, Ni ≤ 30 ppm, O ≤ 20 ppm, C ≤ 50 ppm, achieved through double vacuum arc remelting and/or electron beam melting, followed by optional zone refining. This purity level strikes a balance between performance and cost for applications that require cleaner melts than commercial 99.9% crucibles but do not demand ultra‑high 99.99% grades.
