Physical properties: Molybdenum wire has a high melting point of up to 2627℃, and can still maintain good mechanical properties in high temperature environments; low expansion coefficient, good dimensional stability when the temperature changes drastically; good conductivity, can be used for electrodes and wires of electronic devices; high density, belonging to high-density metal, with both strength and stability.
Chemical properties: Molybdenum wire has good tolerance to acids such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and many corrosive media at room temperature, but is easily soluble in concentrated nitric acid and aqua regia; it begins to oxidize when heated to 400℃ in air, and needs to be used in a protective atmosphere in a high temperature environment; it has stable performance in a nuclear radiation environment and is suitable for the nuclear industry.
Mechanical properties: Molybdenum wire has high strength, and the tensile strength can reach more than 500MPa. Molybdenum wire containing rare earth elements has higher tensile strength, and the strength retention rate at high temperature is better than that of pure molybdenum wire; high hardness, Vickers hardness is about 150-250; good ductility, can be processed to a very fine diameter through cold drawing process, but regular annealing is required to avoid embrittlement.
