Thick molybdenum foil, also known as molybdenum plate, is made by pressing and sintering molybdenum slabs through a rolling process. Usually, 2-30mm thick is called molybdenum plate, 0.2-2mm is called molybdenum sheet, and 0.2mm or less is called molybdenum foil. Molybdenum plates of different thicknesses require different types of rolling mills to manufacture. Thinner molybdenum sheets and foils have better curling properties and can be manufactured using tension continuous rolling mills. They are provided in coils and are called molybdenum strips.
