Used for melting samples in alkaline solvents: Nickel crucibles are suitable for melting samples of NaOH, Na₂O₂, Na₂CO₃, NaHCO₃ and alkaline solvents containing KNO₃.
In addition, nickel crucibles can also be used in the laboratory for routine operations such as evaporation, concentration or crystallization of solutions and burning of solid substances. However, it should be noted that nickel crucibles cannot be used for burning of precipitation, and molten metal salts such as Al, Zn, Pb, Sn, Hg and borax can make nickel crucibles brittle, so contact with these substances should be avoided during use.
