The maximum operating temperature of nickel crucible is generally not more than 700℃.
Although the melting point of nickel is as high as 1455℃, nickel is easily oxidized at high temperature. Therefore, in order to avoid serious erosion of nickel crucible, its melting temperature is usually controlled below 700℃. Nickel crucibles are often used to melt ferroalloys, slag, clay and refractory materials, and are also suitable for melting samples of NaOH, Na₂O₂, Na₂CO₃, NaHCO₃ and alkaline solvents containing KNO₃. However, it should be noted that when using nickel crucibles, the precautions for use should be strictly followed to ensure the safety and accuracy of the experiment.
