Introduction to the super chemical properties of niobium wire
Oxidation resistance: In a high-temperature oxidizing atmosphere, a dense oxide film (Nb₂O₅) will form on the surface of niobium, but the oxide film is prone to cracking at high temperatures, and alloying or coating technology is required to enhance protection.
Corrosion resistance: Niobium wire has excellent corrosion resistance to most acids (such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and molten metals (such as lithium and sodium), but is easily corroded in strong alkali and fluorine-containing media.
Hydrogen absorption embrittlement: Niobium is easy to react with hydrogen at high temperatures to form hydrides (such as NbH₀.₇₆), resulting in increased brittleness, and surface treatment or alloying is required to inhibit hydrogen penetration.
