Basic production process of tin ingots
Raw material preparation: The raw materials for the production of tin ingots are mainly tin ore, such as cassiterite (tin dioxide), etc. After mining, the ore needs to be processed to improve the grade of tin.
Smelting process
Pyrometallurgy: This is a traditional tin smelting method, which mainly includes roasting, smelting, refining and other steps. First, the tin ore is roasted to remove moisture and some impurities; then it is smelted at high temperature to separate tin from other impurities; finally, the purity of tin is further improved through the refining process.
Wet smelting: A smelting method developed in recent years, which mainly uses chemical solvents to dissolve tin from ore, and then obtains high-purity tin through a series of chemical reactions and separation technologies. Wet smelting has the advantages of low energy consumption and low environmental pollution, but the process is relatively complex and has high requirements for equipment and technology.
Casting: The liquid tin obtained after refining is cast into a specific mold and cooled to form a tin ingot with a certain shape and specification.
