Cold rolling and intermediate annealing
Cold rolling
The hot-rolled tantalum plate is cold rolled in multiple passes at room temperature to further reduce the thickness to the final thickness (such as 0.05~0.5mm).
Features:
Cold rolling can significantly improve the strength of the material, but it is easy to produce work hardening.
The deformation amount of each pass must be strictly controlled (usually ≤20%) to prevent cracking.
Intermediate annealing
During the cold rolling process, annealing treatment is performed after each certain deformation (temperature 1000~1200℃, insulation for 1~2 hours).
Purpose:
Eliminate internal stress and restore material plasticity.
Avoid cracks or breaks during subsequent rolling.
