Introduction to the main production process of Zhenan tungsten rods
The preparation of tungsten rods requires a combination of powder metallurgy and plastic processing. The main steps include:
Powder preparation
Reduction method: Use hydrogen to reduce tungsten trioxide (WO₃) to obtain tungsten powder (purity ≥ 99.9%).
Alloying: Add elements such as molybdenum, rhenium, and thorium (such as ThO₂ to enhance high-temperature strength) and mix evenly.
Pressing and sintering
Cold isostatic pressing (CIP): Press tungsten powder into billets (density is about 50-70% of the theoretical density).
High-temperature sintering: Sintering at 1300-1500°C in a hydrogen atmosphere furnace, the density is increased to 90-95%.
Plastic processing
Forging/rolling: Forged into rods at a high temperature of 1200-1500°C, further increasing the density to more than 98%.
Drawing/polishing: Drawing through a die to a precise size (diameter can be as small as 0.1mm), surface roughness Ra≤0.8μm.
Post-processing
Annealing: Eliminate processing stress and improve plasticity (such as for filament materials that need to be bent).
Surface treatment: Electrolytic polishing or chemical cleaning to remove the oxide layer.
